DefinitionUlceration of the lower leg due to chronic venous insufficiency. Failure of the return of venous blood and raised capillary pressure give rise to oedema, eczema, pigmentation, thickening and fibrosis of the skin. These alterations make the skin more liable to break down or fail to repair following minor trauma. The ulcer occurs typically on the medial lower aspect of the calf. Several ulcers may form and coalesce as they increase in size. | SynonymeUlcus cruris venosum, Chronische venöse Insuffizienz III. Grades, Venöse Insuffizienz III. Grades, chronische |
