Localized white or hypomelanotic area of the skin which may be congenital or acquired and can be due to a variety of etiological factors. It may occur following the resolution of areas of eczema and of psoriasis. Residual hypopigmentation on the skin of the neck in patients with secondary syphilis is termed leukoderma colli. Occupational leukoderma occurs in workers in contact with the monobenzyl ether of hydroquinone, phenolic germicidal preparations, and butylcatechol.
