Becker's Nevus

definition

Epidermal naevus characterized by an asymptomatic irregular macular hyperpigmentation with hypertrichosis occurring mainly on the shoulders, anterior chest, or scapular region of adolescent males. It usually follows sun exposure. First a greyish-brown pigmentation appears. After a variable interval, usually a year or two, thick dark hairs appear in the region of the pigmented area. Once present, Becker's nevi remain indefinitely.
