DefinitionContagious infection caused by the human Parvovirus B19 which is most commonly seen in school age children and characterized by fever, headache, and rashes on the face, trunk, and extremities. It is often confused with rubella. Skin lesions begin as bright erythematous macules on the cheeks and occur a few days later as a macular-papular eruption which produces a characteristic reticulated pattern.
