The pigmented purpuras comprise a group of dermatoses that are most commonly located on the lower extremities and share related clinical and histopathologic appearances. Progressive pigmented purpura, a form of purpura pigmentosa chronica, is a lymphocytic capillaritis of unknown aetiology and obscure pathogenesis.
