Dermatosis Palmoplantaris Juvenilis

definition

Erythema, scaling, and painful fissuring and cracking on palms and soles, especially involving the fingers and the toes. It is often worse in the winter when occlusive footwear and nylon socks are worn. Also, it is frequently worse in atopics. This might be a form of atopic dermatitis also called pulpitis sicca or atopic winterfoot. It occurs in children from 1 to 15 years of age with a marked improvement at puberty.
