Poikiloderma, Hereditary Acrokeratotic

definition

Hereditary condition characterized by acral blistering, keratotic papules which develop on the hands, elbows, knees and feet, cutaneous atrophy and macular or reticulate pigmentation. The acral bullae tend to resolve in childhood, whereas the other cutaneous findings appear gradually and persist into adult life. Some authors distinguish Weary's hereditary acrokeratotic poikiloderma from Kindler's syndrome, while others classify them as variants of the same disease.
